Today, I want to share the kind words of a student vet nurse that I have mentored for the last six months. Helping her move through adversity, find inner strength and build confidence has been a hugely rewarding process.
I can see the makings of a very fine human. She is bold, caring, hard-working and very capable. She is loved by her peers, always willing to go the extra mile and consistency professional. That’s why she is such as asset to her team.
Testimonial from a student vet nurse:
“I have had Dustie as a coach within work for over 6 months. We regularly connect to discuss progress inside of work and outside, which allows us to look at a whole picture. As a student having a mentor who gives tips and tricks with skills like time management and communication skills is vital for me to improve on myself. One of the skills that she has taught me is glass ball/ rubber ball, which helps me to prioritise my work without feeling that I need to do everything instantaneously, which can create a feeling of overwhelmingness. Working closely with Dustie, has given me more confidence in myself and my skills than I ever believed possible. The part I appreciate and respect the most is that even with setbacks, we come together and she will help me find other ways to progress, without judgement. Dustie is always available to contact when difficult situations arise and helps me to see things clearly without the need for overthinking and stress. Thank you for helping me find my confidence.”

If you’re a coach or leader within an organisation, remember this…
It’s the little things that we do and say that count the most.
The patience, the listening, the lack of judgement that builds trust. And, as we build trust within our team, our people feel safe. And safety breeds confidence and a willingness to grow.
That’s how we build cultures of progress and unity.
