Embrace Change. Live Long & Healthfully

I created this post for Sandbanks Osteopathy, our clinic within the Sandbanks Yacht Company. The thought behind its message, is that, this is a great time to review all the naughty habits that we naturally fall into when we’re feeling rushed and challenged; and up against the clock. I for one, have increased my daily “step count” significantly during COVID because I know it’s my only “out time” and I can do it whenever I want. No limiting factors to consider. In addition, I have time to cook yummy, fresh food with my family because we’re all at home together.

This got me thinking… Instead of rushing back to “life as usual” (whenever that happens), it would first be wise to reflect on what you want to change moving forward. Humans are creatures of habit. Mostly, this means that we will jump right back into the hamster wheel without a second thought. But that’s not really a good thing.. Is it?

Instead, during this week, set aside some time to reflect on all the things you have really enjoyed about the last 6 weeks. The time you’ve spent with your family. The chance you’ve had to breathe and exercise every day. The opportunity to work at a pace that better suits your work/life balance. The list maybe endless. When you’ve finished, consider all the little ways that you can change what you do (in your old life) to reach the life you want. After all, we know the world ahead will be different to the one we left behind, so we may as well change too.

Hopefully, for the better.
